Las Colonias Construction, Inc. (LCC) has been a custom residential and light commercial contractor in Taos and Taos Ski Valley since 1977. As a former ski racer, Mark Wilson, the owner of Las Colonias has a deep affinity for the mountains. Las Colonias is well experienced in Green Architecture as well as construction techniques appropriate to the high desert of Taos and the high alpine location of Taos Ski Valley. In addition to various active and passive solar solutions, Las Colonias has worked with numerous green building materials such as poured pumice, recycled pumice forms, insulated concrete foam, autoclaved concrete block, and a range of nontoxic finishes and insulations. Las Colonias has particular experience with the special construction challenges of the high alpine environment of Taos Ski Valley, particularly the need for a schedule that addresses the short construction season, having built more than 15 homes and light commercial buildings in Taos Ski Valley. One acclaimed mining camp style house constructed by Las Colonias in Taos Ski Valley has been published in House & Garden, Ski Magazine and the German edition of Architectural Digest.
