The Bavarian Inn & Chalets ("BI&C") development has been discussed with staff and Planning & Zoning Commission of the Village of Taos Ski Valley ("VTSV") over the past four years. Over the fall and winter of 2005/06, the VTSV and the property owners in the Kachina Basin held a series of meetings to consider a master plan for the development of Kachina Village.

On July 5, 2006, the VTSV adopted a Master Plan which included a broad framework for the development of Kachina Village. This plan proceeds from the assumption that the initial keystone to the development of Kachina Village will be the BI&C. As such, the development plan for the BI&C is intended to be a tangible manifestation of the Vision statement for the TSV Master Plan: 'the vision of the Village of Taos Ski Valley is to create a year-round economy based upon a resort related commerce by improving infrastructure, preserving our environment, and improving amenities for ourselves and our visitors'.

BI&C are to be developed in four or more distinct phases to minimize the construction impact on the roadways and utility systems in the Kachina Basin. The project schedule calls for construction to be complete by the fall of 2012. A total of 75,500 square feet of space is proposed in five or six separate structures.
